How local AI works, in plain language.

Most AI assistants send your requests to a company's servers, where a large model processes them and sends back an answer. DeskIQ Private skips that step. The model itself runs on the Mac mini in your office, so the processing never leaves the building.

The model lives on the box

An open-source model, such as Qwen or Mistral, is installed directly on your Mac mini. It answers requests using the hardware in front of you, not a remote server.

No outside AI account

There is no OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google account involved in processing your requests. You don't sign up for a cloud AI service, and you don't get billed per token.

Still approval-based

The assistant drafts replies and takes notes; you approve before anything sends. That safeguard works the same as it does on a cloud setup.

What stays local, and what doesn't.

We'd rather be precise than make a sweeping privacy claim. Here's exactly what "local" covers.

Common questions.

Does this mean nothing ever leaves the office?

The AI model's processing stays on the box. Email and calendar still sync with your existing provider as normal, the same as before you had DeskIQ Private. The Mac mini also needs internet access for sync and updates.

Is an open-source local model as good as ChatGPT or Claude?

Local models like Qwen or Mistral handle drafting, summaries, and routine tasks well. They are not identical to the largest cloud models, but for day-to-day firm workflows they hold up, and the tradeoff keeps the AI processing on your hardware.

Does DeskIQ Private replace my professional confidentiality obligations?

No. This is not legal advice about meeting your confidentiality duties. DeskIQ Private is a hardware and software setup that keeps AI processing on hardware you control. Your own professional judgment still applies.

Can I upgrade from DeskIQ Desk to DeskIQ Private later?
